I quickly got fed up of labels running along the table or falling off the floor. I also didn't like the amount of space needed to keep labels behind the printer. Popping the printer on top of the platform means that I can pop a roll on the spindle and have my fan fold shipping labels behind it or under the roll if it's small enough. It reduces the already small footprint of space my printer takes up, which is welcome indeed.The Label holder is plastic and comes in four parts and slots together in about ten seconds. There is a hole in the top shelf that allows cables to be fed through, and stops the cables getting in the way of the printer itself. A cable tidy is very welcome.The spindle comes off quickly and easily to change the label rolls. These little platforms are very handy indeed for keeping labels and the printer in the right place. These are well worth having with a little thermal printer.The label holder is sturdy and has little rubber feet, so it does not slide around my desk and does not risk tipping over my printer. A good solid little platform with several ways to use it. I've seen other people put their fanfold labels on the top, but that isn't my preference. It's definitely solid enough to keep my printer safe for me.
